Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) hosted the Extra Time Hub Christmas party at The Valley last week, with more than 100 of its participants in attendance.
The Extra Time Hub offers retired and semi-retired people the opportunity to get together once a week and take part in a variety of activities aimed at promoting health and exercise. These activities range from dance classes and singing to curling.
Members of the Addicks U18s squad joined the group’s annual festive party and took part in various activities with participants to help spread the festive cheer, including doing the conga to live music, playing table tennis, and serving food and drinks.
Charlton Athletic forward Micah Mbick, who scored three minutes into his senior debut for the club last season, said: “Today has been a lot different to making my debut! Being on the dance floor and meeting the older people is a different experience, but it’s a good thing for us. It takes us out of our comfort zones and it’s nice to put a smile on their faces.”
Extra Time Hub participant Lorraine also said: “I enjoyed everything about it [the Christmas Party]. The music is good and coming here has made me so much happier. I was a bit scared the first time I visited to the Extra Time Hub because there were so many people, but the people I sit with are really nice and coming here has been the best thing I’ve done.”
