As part of Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s (CACT) ongoing Make it Make Sense (MiMS) programme, Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) recently visited students at St Mary Magdalene School to offer them a glimpse into the exciting career possibilities within the telecommunications industry.
The session, delivered in partnership with the University of Greenwich, saw ASN staff provide students with valuable insights about working for one of the leading companies in the telecommunications industry, particularly with an organisation located on their doorstep. ASN are a global leader in installing submarine optical systems and their London headquarters is based less than a mile from St Mary Magdalene School.
Omolayo Oluwadare, who is part of the MiMS delivery team, said: “The whole aim of the MiMS programme is to make life after school make sense for the students. We talk about confidence building, mental health, money and preparing for job interviews. We invited ASN in to talk about what they do and to introduce the students to a completely new field of work. It’s really useful to have big, influential companies working with us. It opens doors for the students and gives them unique opportunities.”
