Members of Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s (CACT) Inclusion and Transition programme were recently welcomed to Pizza Express on Eltham High Street to participate in a pizza-making class.
The session was led by Pizza Express chef Madison and participants were accompanied by CACT’s Inclusion and Transition team. Participants from the Inclusion and Transition programme enjoy a variety of activities designed to improve life skills and confidence.
CACT Inclusion and Transition Officer Sam White said: “We took some young people from our Inclusion and Transition programme to Pizza Express. The programme is catered to the needs of 16 to 18-year-olds who are going to lose access the youth services or SEN services which they use.
“Pizza Express have been amazing and have tailored the whole session to everyone’s needs. These opportunities help participants access things which they might not usually be able to, and they can develop life skills such as cooking from scratch.
“It’s about giving opportunities to people with different needs, and the breadth of what we do at CACT is about giving these opportunities to our young people.”
Inclusion and Transition participant Ahmad said: “This activity was good for us because it has helped teach us life skills and how to look after ourselves.
“You get to come here, make friends and talk to people. There’s lots of diversity and community cohesion here, everyone feels welcome!”
