Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) patron KWisdom Consulting are helping make a new project with the Charlton Upbeats Down’s syndrome football team possible.
KWisdom Consulting, in partnership with CACT, are developing the Upbeats Garden at Charlton Athletic’s Training Ground in New Eltham.
The garden will provide a variety of facilities, including:
- Raised planters and flower beds
- Fruit trees
- Herb garden
- Seating area
Many of our community programmes, including the Upbeats, will benefit from being able to take part in the construction, development, and maintenance of the garden. The spectator area will enable parents, carers, and siblings to view the pitch from a safe comfortable area. An additional facility connected to the main canteen will also serve snacks and hot & cold beverages.
The garden, along with the newly-opened Upbeats Kitchen in partnership with the Club and Gather & Gather, is part of efforts to further integrate the Upbeats as part of the Charlton Family.
Carl Krauhaus, CACT’s Head of Early Help and Prevention, said:
“We are always keen to find new ways for the Upbeats to learn and develop new skills like with the recently opened Upbeats Kitchen at The Valley.
“The Upbeats Garden is an exciting new project which will build upon the skills they have and develop new ones. Thank you to KWisdom Consulting for helping us to make this project possible.”
The Upbeats Garden will be opened by Charlton Athletic Owner Thomas Sandgaard, at the last home league game of the season on 23 April – the day of the annual Upbeats Walk which sees supporters fundraise for the project.
Keith Wisdom, CEO of KWisdom Consulting, said:
“I have worked with and supported the work of CACT for many years across all seven of their strands. I am pleased to announce our continued support with our latest project: the Upbeats Garden to create an opportunity for the Upbeats to learn gardening skills while also providing them with a safe space to socialise in.”
More information on the Upbeats Garden and this year’s Upbeats Walk will be published over the next few weeks.
