As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) invited more than 130 girls to Charlton Athletic’s Training Ground in New Eltham for a Premier League Kicks tournament.
A team from Bullers Wood School in Chislehurst came out victorious in the final against Dartford Grammar School for Girls. Charlton men’s first-teamer Kayne Ramsay presented them with their trophy.
A big part of the day was when the girls got the chance to speak to women with careers in sport and ask them all about their jobs. The aim of this was to give the girls an understanding of the different job opportunities available in sport.
CharltonTV’s Charlotte Richardson and Charlton’s Head of First-Team Player Care Tracey Leaburn both volunteered their time to give their own career advice alongside CACT staff members who work in Finance and Governance, Monitoring and Development, and Football Coaching.
Royal Borough of Greenwich’s Community Safety Advisors also had a stall at the event and were handing out personal safety kits to the participants. Royal Resistance Boxing Club gave the girls tutorials on the basics of boxing and invited them to try it for themselves.
