Charlton’s U18s rescued a late point on the road as they secured a 3-3 draw against Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.

Ethan Brown’s 95th-minute equaliser saw the young Addicks share the spoils in the West Midlands after Ibrahim Fullah and Emmanuel Sol-Loza had netted for Jason Pearce’s side.

It was the hosts who drew first blood on the day, establishing the lead through Josh Stidder. A well-worked, direct routine saw Success Nidjebu freed down the right flank and he squared for Stidder to tap home inside five minutes.

The young Addicks responded well as Fullah pulled his side level in the 25th minute. A free-kick straight from the training ground saw the ball slipped out to Fullah, who showed great technique to curl a left-footed effort into the top corner.

Just minutes into the second-half, Charlton were awarded a penalty as Bradley Tagoe was wiped out in the box. Sol-Loza stepped up from 12 yards and slotted his strike into the bottom corner, sending the keeper the wrong way.

The hosts came searching for the all-important equaliser and received their reward following a handful of chances at either end for both sides. The Sky Blues hit the young Addicks on the counter, pulling a pass back across goal for George Shephard to fire in from close range.

It was a dramatic end to affairs as the home side took the lead once again, this time in the dying embers. Tionne Critchlow was brought down in the Charlton box and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Up stepped Conrad Ambursley who fired his effort past Sadler in between the sticks.

Coventry’s celebrations were cut short as Pearce’s team levelled the scoring through Brown on the cusp of the full-time whistle. Tagoe swung a deep free-kick into the box which was met by Brown, whose bullet header snuck past Omar Richards.

The U18s are back in action on Saturday morning, hosting Fleetwood Town at Sparrows Lane (KO 11am).
