Charlton's U18s suffered a 2-0 defeat against Watford at Sparrows Lane on Saturday
Kristian Shevchenko and Jael Norville both netted for the Hornets in New Eltham.
The former opened the scoring inside 17 minutes as the visitors capitalised on a loose touch at the back. The ball bundled around the box, falling into the path of Shevchenko who thundered his strike into the back of the net.
Jason Pearce’s side came close to levelling the scoring shortly after as a turnover in possession saw Shia-Lee Burnham let fly from the edge of the box, but his first-time strike went over the crossbar.
Norville added Watford's second shortly after the interval. The forward’s initial strike was vitally blocked, only for the rebound to fall perfectly into Norville’s path who converted with a well-taken volley.
Up next for the U18s is a trip to south Wales on Saturday as they lock horns with Swansea City (KO 2pm GMT).
