Charlton's U21 side tasted derby day delight in Dartford on Tuesday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Millwall.
The young Addicks retained their spot at the top of the Professional Development League 2 - South table through Ryan Huke’s 57th-minute strike.
Charlton came close to opening the scoring inside 22 minutes. Kai Enslin swung a delightful cross towards the back post, allowing Daniel Kanu to turn and shoot, forcing a vital block from a blue shirt.
Up the other end, deadline day addition Tom McIntyre was called into action as the visitors countered with pace. Thankfully for Charlton, the 26-year-old was on hand to deny the young Lions with a sensational last-ditch challenge on the edge of the six-yard box.
Lennon MacLorg made two vital saves in quick succession in the early stages of the second-half. The first came as Tom Leahy struck a dangerous effort from an awkward angle and this was closely followed by a superb stop to push Kavalli Heywood’s audacious attempt on to the bar ahead of the hour mark.
The young Addicks then broke the deadlock through Huke, who has enjoyed a stellar goalscoring season from midfield. Kanu danced his way around the visitors' defender and sent a low cross across the face of goal, allowing Huke to convert with a neat finish at the back post.
Tuesday’s triumph sees Charlton remain top of the table ahead of their return to action on Friday when they host Colchester United at Sparrows Lane (KO 1pm GMT).
