With last weekend’s Sky Bet League One and League Two play-off finals having confirmed which teams will play in the third tier next season, fans can now begin to get excited about what the upcoming campaign will look like.
In Saturday’s League One play-off final at Wembley, Oxford United earned a 2-0 triumph against Bolton Wanderers, leaving the Whites in the third tier next term.
The following day, Crawley Town also claimed a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra to return to League One for the first time in nine years.
All eyes will now be on the fixture list, which will be released at 9am on Wednesday, June 26th.
Following Carlisle United's relegation to League Two, next season’s longest away journey is Blackpool which, at 250 miles by road, is 65 miles closer than the trip to Brunton Park.
Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United have all come down from the Championship, while Stockport County, Wrexham AFC and Mansfield Town were the automatic promotion winners from the fourth tier.
With Derby County promoted to the Championship, League One’s biggest stadium will be Birmingham’s St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park at 29,409. Fleetwood Town’s relegation means that, with a capacity of 6,134, Crawley Broadfield Stadium is now the smallest in the division.
The total distance that fans will travel if they go to every away league game next season is down by 338 miles. Those doing so will rack up 6,862 miles, based on starting and ending their journeys at The Valley.
