U18s star Alan Mwamba has signed his first professional deal with the club.
The attacking midfielder has enjoyed a successful season under Jason Pearce, as the young Addicks stormed to their fourth consecutive Professional Development League Two - South title.
After penning the deal, Mwamba said: “It’s a great experience [to sign]. I didn’t initially think this was going to happen, but I feel like it’s deserved due to my hard work and what I showcased on the pitch.
“It’s been a great season. I’ve had a decent number of goal contributions, I’ve changed a lot of games and I’ve had a really positive impact.
“I’d like to thank my dad. He’s just been my number one supporter, even when no one thought I would go pro. He always believed in me and told me I would, even when I didn’t believe it myself.”
Academy Director Steve Avory added: “Like with any other player to come through the academy system and get a professional contract, we’re proud of what they’ve achieved and we’re delighted for them. Alan’s making the first step on that professional ladder, and he's deserving of it.
“He’s progressed really well this season, and been a significant member of that U18s team. He’s developed quicker than either myself or Jason Pearce would have expected,” he continued. “Since he’s come into the building this year, he’s benefitted enormously from the day-to-day contact and training.”
