Karoy Anderson spoke ahead of this weekend’s Sky Bet League One clash against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium (KO 7.45pm GMT).
The promising midfielder returned to the colder climes of Sparrows Lane having spent the international break with the Jamaican national team in the Concacaf Nations League Quarter-finals as they were defeated over two legs by the USA.
“It was a good experience,” explained Anderson. “Obviously we didn’t get the results that we wanted but I think it is always good to go out there and get that experience against different opposition.”
Alongside Anderson, three Addicks also enjoyed the opportunity to represent their country on the international stage.
Kaheim Dixon joined Anderson with Jamaica, while Conor Coventry was a part of the Republic of Ireland squad who faced England. Elsewhere, Thierry Small received his inaugural callup to the England Elite League Squad.
“I was speaking to Conor and Thierry," he said. "Conor was talking about going to Wembley and obviously Thierry was in Poland with the proper cold weather. They deserve it too, they have both been unbelievable, it is good to see them go away.”
Nathan Jones has previously highlighted the raw talent that Anderson possesses, admitting he is a joy to work with. The youngster spoke on his relationship with the gaffer, stating that he has been vital in his development since his arrival.
He said: “He has been really important for my development in showing me what I need to add to my game and what I do well, whilst having high expectations of me so I can increase my own expectations. It makes me want to perform well every day which is really important for me as a young player.”
The Addicks return to league action this weekend as we lock horns with the Terriers. Previewing Saturday’s clash, Anderson highlighted the importance of taking control early on and being forceful in our approach.
"We are expecting them to be front-footed," he added. "We as a team need to match that and play with an aggression and intensity that they hopefully won’t be able to handle.”
