Michael Appleton has outlined his desire to take his Charlton side on a memorable Emirates FA Cup journey.
The Addicks host local Isthmian League South East Division side Cray Valley PM in the first round proper on Sunday evening, live on BBC Two (KO 5.30pm GMT).
"We’ll give Cray Valley the respect that they deserve having navigated their way through eight games of football to get to this point," said Appleton in his Friday press conference. "We’ll give them that, but at the same time we’ll be going into the game wanting to dominate it, do well and get through.”
Asked if he will make wholesale changes this weekend, the Head Coach said: “I know the team and there will be changes, absolutely. Anyone who knows me or has worked with me in the past knows that I take every single cup competition seriously.
"One or two of the players are suffering with a little bit of soreness, but in the main we seem to be okay. We’ll try and manage them as best as we possibly can. The last couple of days have given a chance for everyone to have a change of scenery and the players have come in today looking sharp and ready to go for Sunday.
"We want to go as far as we possibly can because it breeds confidence in the group and it’s healthy," he explained. "The further you can go in a competition, the more you get an opportunity to use your squad as best you possibly can. It keeps players fit and that’s why I made such a big thing about us trying to stay in the [Bristol Street Motors] Trophy for as long as we possibly can."
