Michael Appleton is full of admiration for the 944 Addicks who are set to make the circa 630-mile round trip from The Valley to Carlisle United on Saturday.
Appleton and his players are firmly focused on giving the travelling supporters the perfect away day.
“The support is incredible and it’s one of them where we just want to make sure that we give them another great away day," explained the Head Coach. "I can assure you that the focus is there from the group to try and do that.
"Everyone will be certainly trying to make sure they get an opportunity to have a good day, enjoy the game and go back with a smile on their face."
Asked what challenge Carlisle will pose, Appleton said: “A difficult test. You look at some of their results against the likes of Peterborough and Bolton as examples. Even the Pompey game, it took 93 minutes for Pompey to get the three points.
"Carlisle are very organised, they've got a decent structure to them and they make it really difficult for you, or try to frustrate you by defending deep at times. They can be dangerous on the counter, on that transition.
"They're the type of team that haven't scored a lot of goals but, considering sort of where they are, they certainly don’t concede a lot of goals.
"They make it difficult for teams," he added. "It comes down to a lot of things really but mentality and having a willingness to match what they’re capable of will probably be key on the day."
