Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that Beth Roe has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
Roe initially joined Charlton in 2020 on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, becoming a permanent member of the team in 2021 when the club turned professional.
"I'm delighted," Roe shared. "I've been here for four seasons now, and it truly feels like home. After last year, we have unfinished business, so I'm ready to get going again and see what this season brings."
Roe also highlighted the importance of her well-being off the pitch: "It's not just about the football, although that's the main thing. As women in football, it's also about living, and I'm settled and happy here. After speaking with Karen and the club, it was a no-brainer for me to sign the contract."
Looking ahead to the new season, Roe expressed her thoughts on the league's competitiveness: "This league is unpredictable. Last year, it came down to a single point, and this season will only be tougher. We're in a good position, but every game is up for grabs. It will be a battle, and it will come down to how we perform game by game. I'm excited to get started and see what happens."
The 24 year old also called attention to the significance of playing at The Valley: "Playing all our home games at The Valley is a massive milestone. The heart of this club is The Valley, and over the past year, the new owners have fostered a 'one club' approach.
Moving our games here felt like the next step in our progression, bringing us home. Playing here consistently will help us grow, especially with the support of our fans. Hopefully, our fanbase will continue to grow and promote women's football even more. The 'one club' approach is a significant step forward."
