Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) have been shortlisted for the ‘Best Football Community Scheme – non Premier League’ at the prestigious Football Business Awards.
Recognising and rewarding the hard work that takes place to support the success of the game, this national event celebrates all the achievements off the pitch at the end of each calendar year.
Coming off CACT’s recent success at the 2016 Football League Awards, winning Community Club of the Year, the award-winning trust will be up against Albion in the Community (Bright & Hove Albion), Fulham FC Foundation & London United, Hamilton Academical FC and Kew Park Rangers FC.
An essential part of CACT’s success was reflected in the health improvement strand after being re-commissioned to deliver a range of the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s health initiatives. This includes Greenwich Get Active, a programme to help individuals get active and feel better, Kick the Habit, a service offering free advice for people trying to stop smoking, and a Health Improvement Call Centre which covers all aspects of the strand and under pins all of the outreach work by specialist advisors.
The annual event will be hosted at a black tie dinner at the Emirates stadium on Thursday 3rd November. With 500 guests expected on the night and some great entertainment on show, it promises to be a fantastic event.
