Celebrating EFL Youth Development Week

As part of the EFL's Youth Development Week, the club are shining a light on the eight academy graduates who have made more than 10 league appearances for Charlton this season.

Karoy Anderson

Karoy Anderson joined Charlton's ranks at U9 level and burst onto the first-team scene ahead of the 2023/24 campaign after impressing during pre-season, netting against Welling United, Wealdstone and Millwall.

The 19-year-old made his full league debut in the Addicks' season-opener - a 1-0 triumph over Leyton Orient at The Valley. In total, he has made 19 league appearances this campaign, 18 of which have been starts.

Anderson scored his first league goal in Charlton's 2-1 victory at Derby County in February 2024 and bagged his second four days later in the 1-1 draw with Northampton Town.

The promising midfielder received his first senior call-up for the Jamaica national team in October 2023 and made his debut in a CONCACAF Nations League tie against Grenada.

Nathan Asiimwe

Nathan Asiimwe, who joined the Charlton set-up as ab U9, made his league debut on the final day of the 2022/23 season, featuring for 22 minutes against Cheltenham Town.

The versatile defender has made 17 league appearances so far this term and signed a new long-term contract with the club in December 2023.

Asiimwe is currently away on international duty with Uganda after received his maiden call-up ahead of their friendlies against Comoros and Ghana.

Tyreece Campbell 

Like Anderson and Asiimwe, Tyreece Campbell joined the Addicks' esteemed academy at U9 level. The winger penned his first professional deal with the club in the summer of 2021.

Campbell made his senior league debut for Charlton in February 2022, coming on as a late substitute against Oxford United at The Valley.

In January 2023, Campbell netted his first goal for the Addicks in a 2-0 triumph over Barnsley in SE7.

The 20-year-old has featured 28 times in Sky Bet League One this season, scoring twice and registering five assists.

Daniel Kanu

Daniel Kanu, who joined the club as an U17, penned his first professional contract in February 2022 and made his league debut 10 days later at Wigan Athletic.

This season, Kanu has made 24 league appearances for the first-team, netting six goals and providing two assists.

The prolific striker also enjoyed a successful spell on loan with National League side Southend United earlier this term, netting four goals on his home debut in a 5-0 win against Solihull Moors.

In November 2023, the 19-year-old made his senior debut for Sierra Leone in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Egypt.

Miles Leaburn

Miles Leaburn joined Charlton at U16 level and put pen-to-paper on his first professional deal with the club in July 2022.

The 20-year-old marked his league debut with a goal on the opening day of the 2022/23 campaign, scoring in the 94th minute at Accrington Stanley.

Leaburn, who sustained a hamstring injury in the Addicks’ 2-1 triumph over Cheltenham Town in December 2023, has made 13 league appearances this term, bagging three goals and registering an assist.

Ashley Maynard-Brewer

Ashley Maynard-Brewer arrived at Charlton at the age of 14, joining from western Australian outfit ECU Joondalup.

Following a number of valuable loan spells away from the club, the goalkeeper made his full league debut against Port Vale in November 2022.

He put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract with the club in March 2023 and received his first senior call-up for the Australia national team later that year.

Maynard-Brewer has featured 25 times in Sky Bet League One this term.

Lucas Ness

Following a successful trial period, Lucas Ness joined the Addicks in the summer of 2020 from Metropolitan Police.

Having enjoyed a successful loan spell with Hampton & Richmond Borough, Ness penned a two-year-deal with the club in May 2022.

Following another successful loan at Torquay United, the 22-year-old made his full league debut for Charlton in December 2022 and went on to make 15 league appearances during 2022/23, winning back-to-back Player of the Month awards in January and February.

Ness has featured 12 times in the league this season.

Terell Thomas

Terell Thomas joined the Addicks ranks as a teenager following his departure from Arsenal.

The versatile defender departed Charlton in 2017 and made his return to the club in September 2022.

Thomas made his full league debut against Ipswich Town in a thrilling 4-4 encounter back in October 2022, netting Charlton’s third goal in the 96th minute. He made his league debut a week prior with a cameo against Shrewsbury Town.

The 28-year-old has earned 11 caps for Saint Lucia and captained his country during the CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifiers.

Thomas, who has started every game under Nathan Jones, has made 33 league appearances so far this season.
