Charlton cling onto three points against Sunderland

Jodie goal

A dominant first half was followed by a shaky second as the Addicks cling onto three points at Sunderland.

It was an outstanding first half performance by Charlton Athletic Women, scoring four goals and dominating throughout.

The first goal came in the 11th minute when the skipper Kiera Skeels, spotted Brazil and fed the forward a long ball as she timed her run perfectly past the defenders and slotted the ball in the net off the post.

Just four minutes later, Skeels got her second assist of the game with another long ball that Hutton got on the end of and chipped it over the keeper.

The number 11 then doubles her tally in the 22nd minute after Siber and Brazil worked together down the right hand side and the deflected shot falls in the path of Hutton who fired it into the back of the net.

The fourth goal of the half comes from Brazil once again with a header from the end of Gracie Pearse's cross into the box in the final minutes of the half.

However, Sunderland weren't going down without a fight and the second half was a very different story.

They got their first of the game in the 58th minute when Fenton's free kick swung into the goal.

This gave Sunderland and their fans a renewed sense of belief and just a couple of minutes later they score another.

They weren't going to stop there and they continued to attack but had no luck for a while.

As the 90 minutes drew closer, Sunderland were awarded and scored a penalty to take the scoreline to 4-3.

The game ended there, the Addicks leaving with a first half to remember and a second half to forget.
