Manager Dean Holden and club captain George Dobson praised the tribute to John Berylson before Tuesday evening’s pre-season friendly against Millwall.
Both sides wore black armbands in memory of Millwall chairman Mr Berylson, who sadly passed away earlier this month.
Prior to kick-off, Holden and Dobson laid flowers in front of the Millwall fans to pay their respects before joining in with the applause from both sets of fans.
Speaking to CharltonTV after the match, the boss said: “First of all, great credit to both sets of supporters for the wonderful show of respect showed before the game, with myself and George, with the flowers for Mr Berylson and his family.”
Dobson also commented on the moving tribute to Mr Berylson’s memory.
“Obviously I just wanted to mention, at the start with the tribute to John, I felt like it was a fantastic moment,” said the skipper. “Both sets of fans showing their respects and putting rivalries aside, so that was a special moment.”
The club would like to thank Millwall for facilitating the tribute.
