The club have triggered the one-year extension clause in Lucas Ness’ contract, keeping him at Charlton until the summer of 2025.
Ness joined the Addicks from Metropolitan Police in the summer of 2020 following a successful trial period and has since made 43 appearances for the first-team.
The 22-year-old’s breakthrough 2022/23 campaign was recognised by Charlton fans, who voted Ness as their Player of the Month for January and February. Prior to a season-ending injury in March 2023, he had earned 16 consecutive starts.
Ness has featured 20 times this term across all competitions.
Manager Nathan Jones said: “We’re delighted to secure Lucas. He’s been a part of the squad and part of the team all season. He's not played a lot since I've come in as it’s very difficult to change a side that’s unbeaten.
"However, we’re delighted to secure him - he’s a fantastic character, a good defender and someone that’s come through the ranks. We’re very proud of him and very proud to secure him for another year.”
