Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of forward Karin Muya on a one-year deal.
Muya’s career began in the Chelsea academy at the age of 10, where she honed her skills during her youth career and won the league title and FA Girls’ Youth Trophy with the Blues U17 squad in the 2011/12 season.
The 28-year-old made two first-team appearances for Chelsea in 2013 before moving abroad to the USA in 2014.
She joined Division One football university side Notre Dame in the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) and was selected for the third-year All-ACC at the end of the 2018/29 season.
Muya then moved to Italy in 2019 to Serie A women’s side Orobica, where she played five league games before moving to the San Marino FC academy the following season.
The forward has spent the last two seasons with fellow Women’s Championship outfit London City Lionesses, where she scored a brace against Charlton in a 2-0 win in April 2022.
Muya has also represented England U19s at the 2014 Euro qualifiers and in the La-Manga event.
In her first interview with the club, Muya expressed her delight at joining Karen Hills’s side:
"Speaking with Karen and already knowing some of the girls who were here it just seemed like such an easy decision to make."
"The club's values and their style of play really aligned and stuck out to me."
"I am very excited to get started, everyone has been so warm and welcoming."
