Dean Holden has confirmed Mandela Egbo is set to play for the Addicks' U21s at Ipswich Town on Friday afternoon.
Egbo, who has been sidelined with a quad injury since late October, recently returned to training with his teammates at Sparrows Lane and will now gain valuable match minutes for Danny Senda's young Addicks.
Speaking in his pre-Plymouth Argyle press conference, Holden said: “Manny is due to play for the U21s tomorrow so that’s a real positive. Obviously I’ve not seen him play at all since I came into the job and he’s had a tough time in terms of the length of the injury.
"I’ve spoken before about his behaviour off the pitch in terms of his leadership. He's been helping the youngsters out and he’s been in every team meeting.
"It’s great to have him back out on the grass and I think he’ll play 45, maybe 60 minutes tops tomorrow. That’s a real step in the right direction for him.”
Steven Sessegnon and Scott Fraser will both be monitored ahead of Saturday's trip to Home Park having missed training on Thursday.
“Sess hasn’t trained today. We’ll assess where he’s at tomorrow and the same with Scotty Fraser who didn’t train.”
Meanwhile, Todd Kane continues to work with the club's physios as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
“Todd’s still a couple of weeks away from joining the group," said the boss. "It was a tricky sort of injury. He’s going in the right direction but it’s just a timeframe for Todd.”
