Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm that Ella Rutherford has signed a six-month contract extension, keeping her with the club until the summer of 2024.
Upon signing her new deal, Rutherford said: "I'm really happy. The team have obviously done really well in the first half of the season so I'm just looking to kick on now and help us move forward."
The south London-born forward signed for the Addicks in 2020, making her one of the longest-serving players in the current squad.
"I'm a south London girl so it felt like home instantly," she explained. "I've really enjoyed playing for Charlton and the badge, and I've got a good connection with all of the fans as well. I've always loved engaging with supporters because that's what makes football really special."
Rutherford claims she feels 'stronger and fitter than ever' having recently returned to the matchday squad after suffering an ACL injury in February 2023.
"It's been a difficult year to say the least. Unless you've done your ACL, you don't actually know what the journey is like and how difficult it can be.
"But the club have supported me in ways that I cannot say thank you enough for. The medical team have got me back into a place where I feel stronger and fitter than I've ever been in my whole career, so I'm just excited to get going now and prove myself."
