Charlton supporters visited The Valley ahead of the 2023/24 season to get a taste of the food on offer at the stadium during the upcoming campaign.
The event was attended by representatives from the club’s catering partner Gather & Gather and Meantime Brewery - the club’s drink supplier.
Jon Whitfield, who follows the Addicks home and away and represents Fans4Fans at the club’s Fans’ Forum, said: “Fan participation at all levels is key to building and maintaining our club. Consultation and input on all areas from the playing kits to the food served in the ground is important. Involvement on every level brings the club and fans that bit closer.
“Generally the food on offer was really good quality and didn’t look like your typical footy fodder. It was well presented and tasted great. The chef had done a sterling job. We were impressed with what we saw and fed back on areas we felt could be improved.”
Richard Craig of Gather & Gather added: “We were really grateful to the supporters for their time and feedback. The event went well and we are looking to do more supporter consultation moving forwards. We were pleased the food was popular and we were also given some useful feedback for us to take on board and implement ahead of Saturday’s game against Leyton Orient and throughout the season.
“As well as the feedback we were also able to talk through our challenges. Pricing is obviously something that is very important to supporters and, like everyone, we are facing challenges - such as the rising cost of ingredients. We’ve worked with our suppliers to look to keep costs down as much as possible and it was good that the supporters attending understood and appreciated our challenges. There was also a desire to know more about what food is being served where on matchdays and we’ll work with the club to make that information more easily available.
“We’re really pleased with the quality of our offering to fans this season and we hope it contributes to an enjoyable matchday experience. We’re constantly looking to improve our offering to supporters and are keen to engage more moving forwards.”
