Ben Garner was keen to take the positives from Charlton's performance at Sheffield Wednesday, despite the nature of the result.
The Addicks controlled proceedings for the most part in south Yorkshire, only for substitute Tyreeq Bakinson to head home on 81 minutes and condemn the Addicks to a first defeat of the 2022/23 season.
"Very disappointed, there is a lot of frustration there," Garner told CharltonTV. "First half, in particular, we were excellent. To come here and create as much as we did and not take the opportunities was the disappointment.
"We then switched off for one moment in the second half and it has cost us a point," he added. "Overall, there are so many positives, so many strong individual performances and a really good collective team performance.
"To come to Hillsborough against one of the favourites to go up and play as we did, we have to take a lot of confidence moving forwards. They had seven shots, two on target, and I don't think there will be many teams that come here and restrict them to that."
The Manager revealed captain Jayden Stockley, who was replaced by Miles Leaburn on 62 minutes, felt unwell ahead of Saturday's clash.
"Jayden today was the under the weather," explained Garner. "He wasn't well but, being the character he is, he rolled up his sleeves and put in a really good shift for an hour or so there.
"We have created several really good opportunities for Jayden that with his quality he would normally put away - the header against Derby, the header against Accrington. We want to provide more chances for him and all of our forwards, but we are creating enough in game to win for sure."
Looking ahead to Tuesday's Valley encounter against Plymouth Argyle, the gaffer said: "We have to take so much confidence from that performance, particularly that first half. We will recover now, we are back in tomorrow and we will start those preparations ahead of Tuesday."
