Help CACT provide food and clothes for local young people this Christmas

Life for some of Charlton Athletic Community Trust's (CACT) participants, particularly some of the young people we work with, can be tough. It’s hard to focus on school if you don’t have enough food to eat or warm, comfortable clothes. And you can’t take part in our activities if you can’t afford to get there.

One of the young people we work with has recently taken drastic measures against hunger. This young person has been getting in trouble with the police for stealing sandwiches from local supermarkets. Each time the police pick them up, they make sure they feed them at the police station*. This is the reality of poverty for some of the young people we’re working with – their families can’t afford to provide food for them.

CACT’s bursary is there to provide support for our participants in exactly this sort of situation – short-term, emergency help for young people we’re working with and their families, as well as things like winter coats, school uniforms and travel expenses for those who can’t afford it.

We need to raise £5,000 to fund the bursary in 2020. Please consider making a donation – just £5 can make a huge difference. All donations made before midday on Tuesday 10 December will be doubled through the Big Give Christmas Challenge.
