Charlton Athletic Women's team's newest signing is buzzing with anticipation.
The Addicks welcomed the talented creative midfielder, Carla Humphrey, to their ranks last week.
Humphrey expressed her delight at joining the club in her first interview with Charlton: "I’m really excited and really pleased to be here – I’ve met all the girls, and it’s a great group and a talented group."
Humphrey's football journey began at Arsenal's academy when she was just nine-years-old. Later, a valuable loan spell at Doncaster Rovers Belles allowed her to grow as a player and adapt to life away from home.
The midfielder then made a significant move to Bristol City, spending four fruitful years in the south west, making 76 appearances in the FA Women's Championship. She later joined Liverpool and played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Women's Super League.
Now, she embarks on a new challenge with Charlton Athletic, and it's clear her attraction to the club was influenced by her conversations with manager Karen Hills and her backroom staff.
She said: “They’re people that can help me develop my game to another level. Hopefully, I can come in and add competition for places. As I said, it’s a talented group and I feel like they’re the types of players I want to be playing with and, hopefully, we can work together and succeed this season."
On her personal playing style, Humphrey added: "I’d like to say that I’m creative. I like to link up with my teammates, create opportunities and assists – that’s what I hope to bring to the team."
