Forward Melissa Johnson offered her thoughts ahead of the Addicks' Vitality Women's FA Cup fourth-round tie against AFC Wimbledon:
“Obviously, we can’t underestimate them they’re going to be a good team and they’ve earned the right to be in the fourth round so we're looking forward to playing them.
“I think the last two weeks we’ve just been focusing on ourselves and making sure that we're ready and that we can execute the game plan.”
The 31-year-old shared her frustration at Charlton's two latest league fixtures against Blackburn Rovers and Lewes being postponed due to waterlogged and frozen pitches:
“Yeah, it’s been really frustrating obviously on the back of the two weeks and not having a game, but I think that our intent has still been there in training and obviously we're focused and we know what we need to do when the next game comes.
"Hopefully, it’s this weekend. So, I think everyone’s just ready to go and excited to play in the FA Cup this weekend.”
With six goals under her belt already Johnson is currently the Addicks' top goal scorer, the forward went on to share a few of her standout moments so far this season:
“I really enjoyed scoring away at Durham and Crystal Palace because obviously they were really important goals for the team so I’m happy with those but ultimately, I was really excited to score my first goal on my debut. Yeah, I’ve got a couple that stands out to me and I’m hoping to get a couple more this weekend.
“I’m really enjoying it and once you’re enjoying it, you’re getting on and you’re training well it helps, it adds value to your game and what I can execute and bring to the game and help towards goals and assists and helping the team in any way so yeah, I’m really enjoying it.”
