Nathan Jones has called for his side to 'get back to that clean sheet mentality' ahead of Tuesday's trip to Burton Albion.
The Addicks head to the Pirelli Stadium having suffered back-to-back away league defeats at Exeter City and Huddersfield Town.
"When you're at Charlton, every game is huge," said Jones. "We know that at the minute we need more wins, we know that we're not at the level we need to be.
"There's a lot of games, we've had a load of games. We want to be competitive in cup games and everything, so we've won the cup games and we've topped our group, we're in the next round of the FA Cup. These are marginal gains.
"We go to Exeter and we have three glorious chances, and we lose the game one-nil from a set play. [At Huddersfield], we have three glorious chances and we effectively lose the game by conceding from a set play. We need to better both sides - one, we need to be more clinical and, two, we need to stop conceding from set plays because that's two in two.
"We have to get back to that clean sheet mentality. We believe we're going to score and we're going to create chances, but if we're constantly chasing the game all the time then it's going to be difficult.
"Very rarely do we get outworked, it's just those little margins at the minute that are going against us. It's stuff that we're telling the players, so they have to take that on board."
