Nathan Jones was not happy with his side’s performance following the Addicks’ 2-0 defeat to Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
“I’m just disappointed on all levels,” he said. “Look, the positives are we’ve got nine from 12 in the first month. But today, I’m just disappointed.”
“Physically we were a mile off in the first half. We readdressed everything, and then second half we should have had a pen. It’s a stonewall penalty, so we should have had that.”
Jones was not too concerned about Reading’s first goal – an excellent long-range effort from Charlie Savage. The same could not be said about their second.
“It’s a very good strike from distance – that sometimes happens – but the second goal is a disgrace, an absolute disgrace,” he said. “I’m raging so much today – this isn’t going to be a good interview, I’ve got to be honest. I’m raging off my nut.
“What we did to affect that game was a disgrace, and I will address that.”
The gaffer also explained Luke Berry’s withdrawal at half time: “He had no energy, he was ill – chest. So was Tennai Watson.”
More than 2,500 fans made the trip to Berkshire. “I feel sorry for them today,” said Jones. “They’ve been let down today.”
