Jones: 'It's a really big week'

Nathan Jones says he and his players are relishing the week ahead against two of Sky Bet League One's fellow promotion contenders.

The Addicks travel to Barnsley, who are currently outside of the play-off places on goal difference, on Tuesday before taking on second-placed Wrexham at The Valley on Saturday.

"We've got Barnsley and then Wrexham so it's a real big week, but we enjoy these games," explained the boss. "This is why we're in football.

"With the greatest respect, I don't want to play against dog and duck and win 25 nil; I'd prefer to have the big games where you're testing yourself, you're testing your team and that's what we're looking forward to."

Jones also provided an update on Lloyd Jones and Chuks Aneke, who missed Saturday's draw with Stockport County at The Valley.

"Lloyd's injury is a bit baffling really," he said. "He completed the [Birmingham] game with no problems whatsoever, he trained on the Tuesday and then just felt something. We scanned something and something showed up that we weren't scanning for so it was a real strange one.

"Chuks has felt a minor thing in his groin. As is always the case with Chuks, you can't take any chances so we didn't.

"Hopefully neither will be out for long," added the gaffer.
