Jones previews Reading visit

Nathan Jones interview

Nathan Jones is expecting a tough test when the Addicks host fifth-placed Reading at The Valley on Saturday.

Jones’ side come into the match on the back of a 2-1 win against high-flying Wycombe Wanderers at The Valley.

Reading fans have purchased more than 2,500 tickets in the away end ahead of Saturday but Jones explained he hopes the Charlton faithful can have an influence again this weekend: "The crowd played a big part on Sunday against Wycombe. When the atmosphere is like it was against Wycombe, that helps the players and fills them with confidence."

Noel Hunt was appointed Reading Manager at the start of December and, like Jones’ side, the Royals have won their last three outings in the league.

Jones said: “Noel has done really well since he went in there, including a good 3-1 win away to Cambridge United on New Year's Day. They are a good side with some real threats, but we come into the game in form and focused on being the best versions of ourselves.

“We’ve had some tough games lately. Reading are in good form and we’ve also had tough games against them too, but we always say that it's about us. We have to be the best versions of ourselves.

"Our game against Crawley Town on Wednesday was postponed, which was disappointing for us and the players. We were disappointed for our supporters too, who had sold out the away end. We were desperate to play the match but the decision was taken to postpone the game, which we have to respect.

"The positive to come from it is that we have had extra time on the training pitch ahead of Saturday’s match during an intense period of fixtures."
