Nathan Jones is relishing Saturday's Emirates FA Cup second-round tie against Walsall.
The Addicks travel to the Poundland Bescot Stadium on the back of a 1-0 win on the road against Burton Albion in midweek, with Conor Coventry netting his first goal for the Addicks.
Asked how the squad is faring ahead of Saturday, Jones said: “We're in a better place than we were the other day. We've got Greg Docherty suspended, but other than that we've had two or three come back in a better place because of the time. We’ll be in a stronger position, god willing, Saturday than we were on Tuesday.”
This weekend's hosts sit second in Sky Bet League Two and knocked out Bolton Wanderers in the first round proper.
“We’re expecting a very tough game," explained the gaffer. "Anyone that beats higher league opposition whilst also doing well in their league over a 16-game period... they're obviously doing well. They're well-structured and know exactly what they're doing, and they have a young manager that wants to make a mark.
“It’s always a tough game at Walsall with the pitch and the stadium - we know what to expect. I’ve been there as a player, coach and a manager so I know it's a tough, tough place to go, but we have to make sure that we concentrate on us. If we're the best version of us then it will be a very difficult game for Walsall as well.”
Jones voiced his praise for the Charlton faithful who made consecutive trips to both Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion in the past week, with many set to make the journey once again this weekend.
“The fans were let down on Saturday, and not by us. They saw a team that, even with 10 men, went after the game and tried to win the game even at 1-1. They saw a whole-hearted and productive performance on Tuesday - we had enough situations to have won more comfortably.
“When you don’t win every game at a club like Charlton, there's always pressure. The fans have been wonderful, they came to Burton and will do so again for Walsall. They will be really important again. It's a wonderful occasion for them with it being different and not a league game.”
