Nathan Jones was full of praise for his side after an emphatic 5-0 win at Northampton Town.
The Charlton Manager, who himself had been ill during the week, saw his side play at their fluid best and keep a third clean sheet in a row.
Speaking post-match he said of his team: “I asked for a performance from them today and they gave it to me. They were magnificent from start to finish. To come away, score five, another clean sheet, the manner in which we took our goals.
“We played Mansfield at home, we had good clear-cut chances and could have won the game. We can win any game, we’re in every single game. We don’t concede much. We took our chances, we were clinical and there were some massive performances.”
The Addicks, now four points off the play-offs, host Cambridge United at The Valley on Boxing Day.
He said: “What we have to do is back that up. We can’t get carried away and then be a damp squib on Boxing Day. We have to make sure that we take the positives from today and then move into Boxing Day.
“I’m delighted for everyone today, we’ve been under a lot of pressure lately and we’ve reacted. We’re pleased for the fans because they travelled and filled the atmosphere, it was a magnificent atmosphere, they kept the faith today and they’ve been treated. I hope we have many more days like today.”
