Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT)’s Short Breaks programme were treated to a VIP visit last Thursday, 27th October as Charlton Athletic stars Josh Magennis and Roger Johnson stopped by.
Short Breaks is a programme for young people with special educational needs and disabilities in Royal Greenwich. Josh and Roger visited the group, who met at Avery Hill Youth Hub in Eltham, to see their half term activities.
They got involved making Halloween decorations, playing pool and having a kickabout in the youth hub’s sports hall.
After a big group photo, the youngsters got autographs from the players.
Speaking at the event, Northern Ireland international Magennis said: “We really enjoyed coming down to meet the young people and support what Charlton is doing in the community. We hope everyone enjoys their Halloween Party!”
Funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Short Breaks is a programme that delivers fun new experiences for young people with special educational needs and disabilities in the borough. Trips out and time with the group also allows parents and carers a rest from caring duties too.
Alexandra Levey, CACT’s Short Breaks Manager said, “The young people absolutely loved meeting Josh and Roger. It was a fantastic highlight of their half term.”
