The club are pleased to announce that Kiera Skeels has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping her at the club for the 2022/23 season.
The 20-year-old signed for the Addicks from Reading in August 2021, following a loan spell at Bristol City during the 2020/21 campaign.
Skeels said: “I’m delighted to sign a new contract. I'm really excited to get going again. I really enjoyed last season, I feel like I developed a lot as a player and I am just looking to do that again next season."
Progressing through the academy system at Reading from U10 level, Skeels was captain of the Royals' academy side prior to making her debut for the first team.
She has featured for England on the international stage at U17 and U18 level, as well as U19 level having earned eight appearances during the Young Lionesses' European Qualifiers.
“I think some of the detail we get from the coaches really helps you as a player to develop. All the individual sessions and being in that team environment around experienced players helps you to develop as a younger player."
The centre-back played a vital role for the Addicks throughout the 2021/22 season, making 24 appearances for Karen Hills side.
“I think as a team we did well overall. There were patches in the season where we did better than others. I think next season we just need to look for that consistency and look to push on and get a higher finish next season.
“I just want to keep developing as a player, seeing how well we can do as a team and individually. I am really looking forward to the season ahead.”
Head Coach Karen Hills was delighted that Keira had signed an extension. She said: “Kiera had a fantastic season with us last year and I believe next season will be even better for her. I’m excited to watch Kiera grow and take her game to the next level with us for the coming season.”
Kiera Skeels' contract extension is subject to FA approval.
