Please see below a note from club legend Keith Peacock ahead of Saturday's game between Charlton legends and Portsmouth legends, celebrating 30 years since the two sides played in the Addicks’ historic return to The Valley. Tickets for the game are available to purchase on the gate.
A big welcome to all the Charlton and Portsmouth fans attending today’s game at The Valley.
Today’s match is to celebrate 30 years since our return to The Valley. Our opponents on that very day were, of course, Portsmouth, so it is most fitting that they are our adversaries for this special game.
It will be quite amazing to see Garry Nelson and Bob Bolder, as well as Alan Knight and Chris Burns, in action 30 years on.
Certainly both teams will be a little slower now than before so there is no need for video replays!
I know the Charlton players are truly honoured to play in this match, whether they are in their mid-30s or early-60s the desire to win and play well remains in their blood.
Remember to stay out at half-time to watch the penalty shootout!
I must thank Tony Male and the Portsmouth team for giving up their time to make the long journey.
A big thank you must also go to Keith Wisdom as our main sponsor and Russel Mears and David Warr who are sponsoring the penalty shootout.
Enjoy the occasion!
Supporters will be able to purchase a 12-page matchday programme on the gate at the game or online next week.
