Charlton legend Kevin Lisbie is looking forward to seeing what the club can achieve next season.
The Addicks are unbeaten in 11 and sit fourth in the Sky Bet League One form table - based on the last 10 fixtures - and Lisbie has been impressed by what he has seen from Nathan Jones' team in recent weeks.
Speaking on CharltonTV after the Addicks' 2-1 win against fifth-placed Barnsley, Lisbie explained he has noticed the change since the appointment of Jones and the addition of players in January. He said: “To do that [the unbeaten run] is a massive achievement. You have to do that collectively as a team. We look a lot more comfortable towards the end of games. In the past we sat here [in the CharltonTV studio] and almost knew that goal was going to come. It’s a different feeling today - eight minutes went up and I was still confident that we were going to win this game.”
Lisbie was full of praise for academy graduate Karoy Anderson, who has thrived since returning to the team.
“I thought he was unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable," he added. "He was everywhere. I felt at times he was the difference between the two teams. This is his first season, if he comes back and he bulks up a little bit and with that experience of playing this season, I expect him to be a big part of this club.”
The former Jamaica international also praised Alfie May, who bagged another brace on the day. “He puts the team before himself,” he commented. “It just sums up his character the fact that he is doing that work off the ball.”
Lisbie is back on CharltonTV on Tuesday, joining Alan Curbishley and host Charlotte Richardson in the studio as the Addicks host Wigan Athletic. Click here to purchase your streaming pass.
