Goalkeeper Nathan Harvey kept a clean sheet, scored the winning goal and was then sent off in Chatham Town’s 1-0 win at Burgess Hill Town in the Isthmian League South East Division on Saturday.
The 10-man Chats, who saw defender Dean Beckwith dismissed after 22 minutes, withstood constant pressure from the hosts in challenging conditions before Harvey remarkably scored directly from a goal kick on 76 minutes.
That wasn’t the end of the drama for the stopper though as he was sent off moments later following an off-the-ball incident, but Chatham held on to claim a valuable three points.
Elsewhere in non-League, Deji Elerewe played the entirety of Bromley’s 1-0 victory at Yeovil Town and Dylan Gavin enjoyed 75 minutes as Welling United returned to winning ways with a 1-0 triumph over Bath City at Park View Road.
