On a dramatic final day in Sky Bet League One, Conor McGrandles provided an assist in Cambridge United’s 2-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers to secure the U’s place in the division next season.

The Scot, who has become a real fan favourite at the Abbey Stadium, delivered a deep corner for Harrison Dunk to head home on 25 minutes before Sam Smith doubled Cambridge’s lead as they stayed up by one point.

Elsewhere in League One, Charlie Kirk came on as a second-half substitute for Burton Albion in their goalless draw at home to MK Dons, a result which relegated the Dons to Sky Bet League Two.

In the fourth tier, Alex Gilbey came off the bench to help Stevenage secure second place with a 1-0 win at Barrow and Diallang Jaiyesimi made his fourth consecutive start for AFC Wimbledon, who suffered a 1-0 defeat at Grimsby Town.

It was an afternoon to forget for Deji Elerewe during Bromley’s 3-2 defeat at Chesterfield in the National League play-off semi-finals. The 19-year-old academy graduate scored an own goal to make it 1-1 and was then sent off after 75 minutes following a challenge on Chesterfield forward Liam Mandeville.

Meanwhile, fellow academy graduate Richard Chin was forced off through injury in Dartford’s National League South play-off semi-final against St Albans City at Princes Park. Following a 1-1 draw after extra time, the Darts lost 5-3 on penalties.
