MATCH PREVIEW | Birmingham v Charlton
The Addicks are back on the road this weekend as they travel to St. Andrew’s to face Birmingham in search of their first three points this season.
The Addicks were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline against Watford in SE7 last Sunday despite a spirited second-half showing which witnessed two unanswered goals from Carla Humphrey in the 56th minute and Angela Addison's close-range volley in the 80th minute.
Karen Hills' side currently sit ninth in the Barclays Women’s Championship table.
Darren Carter’s side also head into this weekend’s proceedings in search of their first three points of the season having recorded two losses and a draw in their opening three matches.
The Blues travelled to Lewes last weekend where the game ended goalless with both sides being shown a red card in the second half. Birmingham’s Katie Dungate was shown a second yellow in the 66th minute due to a late challenge on Caragh Hamilton. Despite the points being shared at the Blues did manage to record their first clean sheet of the season.
Birmingham currently sit 11th in the Championship standings.
The last time these two sides locked horns was back in March of this year in a 2-2 draw at St. Andrews. Charlton saw themselves 2-0 down in the 52nd minute. However, thanks to goals from Kiera Skeels and Melissa Johnson the Addicks were able to leave the west midlands with a point.
Karen Hills' side also sealed an impressive 3-0 victory over the Blues at The Valley back in September 2022 thanks to an Angela Addison strike and a brace from Ella Rutherford.
