Charlton

Hills’ Addicks head into Sunday’s clash off the back of defeat to London City Lionesses at The Valley last weekend. Mel Filis fired Charlton ahead within five minutes, wrapping her strike into the top corner following some superb pressing from Kayleigh Barton. Heartbreak struck for the Addicks in the final moments as Lotta Lindström headed the visitors level in the 89th minute and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah’s deflected effort crept over the line on the cusp of full-time.

Following Sunday’s defeat, the Addicks dropped to 5th in the league rankings, level on points with this weekend’s opposition.

Birmingham City

Darren Carter’s Blues sit 3rd in the table, four points behind league leaders Sunderland, although both Charlton and Birmingham have a game in hand over the Lasses.

In their previous bout, Birmingham tasted triumph at St. Andrews @ Knighthead Park, claiming a 2-0 victory against Lewes. Charlie Devlin fired the hosts ahead in the 23rd minute before Claudia Walker doubled the Blues lead shortly after the interval.

Head-to-head

The two sides have locked horns on two separate occasions this season. More recently, in Continental Cup action at The Oakwood back in November. The Addicks were crowned as victors on the day as Tegan McGowan’s 34th minute strike separated the sides on a cold Wednesday evening.

In the reverse encounter in September 2023, Karen Hills’ side secured all three points on the road after Kayleigh Barton’s 59th-minute penalty proved to be the difference between the Addicks and the Blues.
