MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Leyton Orient

'

Coming off the back of an impressive away win at Wigan Athletic at the weekend, the Addicks are looking to make it two wins from two league games on Saturday when they welcome Leyton Orient to The Valley (KO 12:30pm BST).

Despite a narrow defeat to Birmingham City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening, Nathan Jones told CharltonTV that his side put in an “excellent” performance against the Blues that should stand them in good stead for the weekend.

TEAM NEWS

Matty Godden has missed the first two games of the season with a slight hamstring issue. Fellow striker Miles Leaburn is continuing his recovery from the hamstring injury he sustained last season.

Neither Dan Happe (groin) nor George Moncur (hip) were risked in Orient’s Carabao Cup win over Newport County on Tuesday night, and it remains to be seen whether they can feature on Saturday.

Longer-term absentees Theo Archibald, Jordan Graham and Jack Simpson remain out.

THE OPPOSITION

Orient finished 11th in last season’s Sky Bet League One table, and were impressive on opening day despite eventually losing 2-1 at home to Bolton Wanderers.

They bounced back on Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory over Newport County in the Carabao Cup, spurred on by former Addick Diallang Jaiyesimi’s first goal for the club.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Addicks have faced off against Orient 54 times in their history, winning 24, losing 20 and drawing the remaining 10.

In their two encounters last season, each side won their home game 1-0 – the Addicks on opening day and the O’s on Boxing Day.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Edward Duckworth will be the man in the middle on Saturday. He will be supported by Assistant Referees Paul Kelly and Daniel D’Urso, as well as Fourth Official Paul Howard.
