Charlton Athletic Women are heading into their first game of the 2024/25 season after an unbeaten pre-season. While the team may have a number of new signings, they aren't new to the Barclays Championship having all played previously in the competitive league!
Portsmouth are one of the two newly promoted teams after winning the National League South last season. Jay Sadler's side have been preparing through the summer having made a number of signings in this transfer window to prepare their side for their first time in the Barclays Women Championship. This is also the first season the club will be a fully proffesional outfit.
The opening game of the season is always a game surrounded by pressure and anticipation but Charlton’s track record for the last decade is not one to forgot. The Addicks have been unbeaten in their opening game since 2012! However, Portsmouth have also had a strong track record in their opening fixtures, having remained unbeaten since 2019!
