MATCH PREVIEW | Crystal Palace v Charlton
Karen Hills’ side will be looking to record back-to-back league wins as her side travel to Selhurst Park on Sunday, November 20th to lock horns with Crystal Palace in the south London derby.
The Addicks head into this weekend's meeting having recently recorded a 2-1 away win against Durham. Skipper Emily Simpkins opened up the scoring within six minutes as she converted her fourth spot kick this season. The hosts then equalised inside twenty minutes after being awarded a penalty of their own, Beth Hepple netted for the home side. The Addicks took the lead again later in the half when Simpkins flicked a perfectly weighted ball into Melissa Johnson whose strike hit the post and in.
Victory over Durham saw Charlton climb up into the 4th after Crystal Palace’s game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Eagles currently sit just one point behind Charlton in the current Championship standings on 12 points. Due to the postponement of their clash against Sheffield United earlier this month, Crystal Palace’s last outing came in a 1-0 triumph over Durham at the end of October.
A sensational finish from former Addick Anna Fibley put Palace ahead before halftime and wrapped up the three points for Dean Davenport's side.
The last meeting between the two sides resulted in a 1-0 victory for Crystal Palace at The Oakwood in March. Coral-Jade Haines netted for the Eagles, seeing her right-footed shot sail into the top corner in the 23rd minute.
Karen Hills’ side's last away meeting against the fellow south London rival consisted of a five-goal thriller as Charlton were narrowly edged out 3-2 on derby day. A 90th-minute strike from Jess King wasn’t enough for the Addicks as the hosts claimed the three points last November.
