TEAM NEWS

Sean Clare is available again having served a one-match ban last weekend, while Ben Garner confirmed in his Friday press conference that Ashley Maynard-Brewer is set to start in goal.

The Addicks will be without Joe Wollacott (finger), Craig MacGillivray (concussion), Mandela Egbo (quad), Eoghan O’Connell (knee), Terell Thomas (hamstring), Conor McGrandles (ankle), Diallang Jaiyesimi (ankle) and Miles Leaburn (ankle) for the trip to Staffordshire.

Ellis Harrison, the hosts’ top scorer, is suspended having accumulated five cautions and fellow striker James Wilson (ankle) is an injury doubt.

THE OPPOSITION

Port Vale currently sit 15th in Sky Bet League One with 23 points from their 18 league matches thus far.

Darrell Clarke’s side come into Saturday’s fixture on the back of a 4-0 reverse at Oxford United last weekend.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Port Vale squared off on 32 previous occasions, with the Addicks winning 14, the Valiants eight and the remaining 10 encounter resulting in draws.  

The last meeting between the two sides came at The Valley in November 2016, when first-half goals from Josh Magennis and Nicky Ajose earned the Addicks a 2-0 triumph.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Samuel Barrott will be the man in the middle on Saturday. The official last refereed a Charlton fixture in January – the Papa John’s Trophy tie at Hartlepool.

Barrott will be assisted by Abbas Khan and Wayne Grunnill, while Kevin Mulraine is the Fourth Official.

COLOURS

The Addicks will be sporting their home kit in Staffordshire.
