MATCH PREVIEW | Reading v Charlton

'

The Addicks have claimed maximum points to start the season, and are looking to make it four wins from four when they visit Reading on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm BST).

The fixture is a repeat of Nathan Jones' first ever game in charge of the club, and the gaffer will enjoy the chance to see just how far the side have come in the six months he has been here.

TEAM NEWS

Nathan Jones confirmed that Miles Leaburn has returned to full team training following the hamstring injury he sustained last season. Josh Edwards (ankle) remains out.

The hosts will be without Harvey Knibbs, who suffered a groin injury two weeks ago and has not yet recovered. Andy Yiadom and Mamadi Camara are also sidelined for Reading.

THE OPPOSITION

The Royals finished one place behind Charlton in last season’s Sky Bet League One table, having been deducted six points.

Rubén Sellés’ side claimed an impressive 1-1 draw at Birmingham City on the opening day, followed by a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic. However, they come into Saturday’s game having been beaten 3-0 at Wrexham last time out.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two sides have met 46 times prior to this weekend's game, with the Addicks having won 16, drawn 11 and lost 19.

Two goals from Femi Azeez helped the Royals to a 2-0 win at the Select Car Leasing Stadium back in February 2024.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Thomas Kirk will take charge of proceedings on Saturday afternoon. He will be joined by Assistant Referees Andrew Aylott and Ryan Williams, as well as Fourth Official Richie Watkins.

COLOURS

The Addicks will wear their yellow away kit in Berkshire, having debuted the new strip during their opening-day victory at Wigan Athletic.

OTHER INFO

Tickets for the trip to Reading are now off sale, though a limited number of tickets will be available to purchase (card only) from the Select Car Leasing Stadium on the day.
