Karen Hills’ side are back on the road this Sunday, taking on Southampton at St. Mary's in the Barclays Women’s Championship (KO2 pm GMT).
MATCH PREVIEW | Saints vs Addicks
The Addicks head into the clash off the back of a 1-0 triumph away to Lewes at the Dripping Pan last Friday. Kayleigh Green’s 91st-minute penalty winner secured all three points for the Addicks in East Sussex.
A win at the weekend could see the Addicks go to joint top of the table depending on results elsewhere with both Southampton and Charlton currently sitting three points behind league leaders Sunderland ahead of Sunday’s meeting.
Marieanne Spacey-Cale has led the Saints to six wins and three losses in their opening nine league fixtures. More recently claiming a 1-0 victory away to Reading on Wednesday evening in the Continental Cu;.
Lexi Lloyd-Smith netted the all-important winner for the Saints with five minutes remaining of the full 90 minutes to see Southampton climb to the top of Group D ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.
Charlton and Southampton have gone toe-to-toe on two previous occasions with the Addicks’ securing victories in both meetings last season.
The teams previously locked horns at The Valley in March 2023 as Beth Roe scored the winner for the Hills’ side in the 6th minute as she tapped into an empty net from close range.
Charlton’s last trip to the St. Mary’s Stadium came in August 2022 as the Addicks claimed all three points on the opening day of the season on the South Coast, with Emily Simpkins and Melissa Johnson etching their names onto the scoresheet on the day.
There will be no live stream of this Sunday's fixture. Full highlights will be available on the club website from Monday afternoon.
