SUNDERLAND V CHARLTON ATHLETIC
The Addicks head to the northeast this Sunday off the back of an impressive 3-0 victory over a previously undefeated Birmingham City at The Valley.
Ella Rutheford was the first Addick to add her name to the scoresheet inside, five minutes after she cooly slotted away her shot from just outside the box. Summer signing Angela Addison got her Charlton goalscoring tally off the mark doubling the home side's lead just before the break. Then 70 minutes into proceedings an Ella Rutherford rocket which deflected off the back of the keeper's head and into the back of the net rounded off the three-points for the south London side.
The win sees the Addicks propel up to third in the Championship standings.
Karen Hills' side will be looking to make it back-to-back victories when her side locks horns with Melaine Copeland's Sunderland side at the Eppleton Colliery on Sunday, September 25th KO 11:30 AM.
The Black Cats go into Sunday's fixture in search of their first win of the new campaign having recorded an opening day 1-1 draw with Durham, Sunderland's goal coming through Brianna Westrup. Reay's side then found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline in round two against Birmingham City, and then last weekend the side were edged out 1-0 to current Championship table toppers Bristol City, the hosts currently sit 11th above Coventry United in the league table.
Karen Hills' side will sport their third kit threads on Sunday.
