Ashley Maynard-Brewer is loving life at Charlton having recently put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract with the club.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has made 16 starts under Dean Holden in what has been an impressive breakthrough campaign.
“It’s really exciting," he told CharltonTV. "I've really enjoyed the last few months, being involved and playing games. To get locked in for the next few seasons is really exciting.
“I just want to continue playing games, progressing and improving my game. I want to try to contribute as much as possible to the success of Charlton.
"My family are really proud. My dad came over to watch the Sheffield Wednesday game and that was the first game he's seen since Australia actually. For him to watch that in front of The Valley crowd was obviously a great moment."
The academy graduate expressed his gratitude to the club's staff who have helped him progress to where he is now.
“I’m very grateful to everyone," Maynard-Brewer said. "There's been so many people involved at the club such as Joe Francis [Head of Education] and Steve Avory [Academy Director] who helped me settle in. They helped me to make that adjustment coming from a foreign country. That's just the stuff away from football.
"At the football club there's been loads of people, coaches and backroom staff who have helped me get to this position and progress through the academy.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity that Dean has given me," he added. "Since he's come in he's been great communicating with us. The team has really responded to what he's had to say and the way he's gone about it."
