Ex Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) Advance Centre player Danny McNamara, made his first team debut for Millwall FC last Tuesday, 26th July. The centre-back was a 76th minute substitute as Millwall lost 2-0 to Dover Athletic at The Crabble Athletic Ground.
McNamara managed to make an impact with a mazy late run, which resulted in free-kick for the Lions.
The 17 year old joined the CACT Advance Centre aged 7, before being picked up by Charlton Athletic FC’s Academy, playing there until he was 14. Danny then started playing for Corinthians FC in Kent and in the summer of 2015 was scouted by Millwall FC and offered a two year scholarship.
Sean Daly, head of football and sports development at CACT said:
“We are immensely proud of Danny’s achievement and wish him all the best as he continues his professional career. Only last year he was with CACT pumping up footballs on work experience and now he’s made his professional debut.
“More players making the cut in the professional game are testament to the great work of the CACT Advance Centre.”
Other professionals to come through the CACT Advance Centre include Harry Arter, Rob Elliot and Bradley Dack.
